Embraer says ‘no comment’ on Nigerian Super Tucanos

IDEX 2017: Embraer says ‘no comment’ on Nigerian Super Tucanos

Jeremy Binnie, Abu Dhabi – IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly

22 February 2017

Embraer CEO Jackson Schneider indicated that the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF’s) announcement that it will receive ex-Brazilian Air Force EMB-412 Super Tucanos was premature, telling Jane’s during the IDEX 2017 show in Abu Dhabi that he would not make any comment on the West African country’s acquisition of the light attack turboprop.

The NAF announced on 9 February that Embraer had confirmed the Brazilian government had authorised its air force to transfer three of its Super Tucanos to the company for onward delivery to the NAF.

The NAF statement cited Embraer contract negotiator Eneias de Souza Freitas as saying that a number of legal requirements and procedures were still being finalised, but that Embraer would try to expedite the process.
