South Korean firm Hanwha Techwin has secured a KRW280 billion (USD263 million) contract from Poland to supply its K9 Thunder 155 mm/52-calibre self-propelled tracked howitzer, the company has announced.

In a filing to the Korean Exchange on 15 December, Hanwha Techwin said the deal features the delivery of 96 K9 chassis units to state-owned Polish land systems specialist Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW). The chassis will be delivered from 2017 to 2023, it said.

Hanwha Techwin indicated in its filing that the K9 contract is linked to a similar order from Poland in December 2014 worth KRW83.2 billion. This, it said, featured the supply of 24 K9 systems, which were delivered to HSW by October 2016.
