THE KURGANETS-25 Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The BMP Series and MT-LB have served the Former Soviet and Russian Armies for over 50 years as the principal tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicle and Armoured Personnel Carrier respectively.

The use of multiple designs in these vehicles generates problem with operating costs, maintenance, training, upgradeability and operational capabilities.

The Kurganets-25 has been developed to eliminate all these issues.

Using a universal chassis and hull, both an Infantry Fighting Vehicle and Armoured Personnel Carrier version have been developed and have distinct early recognition markers as seen during the 2015 Moscow Victory Day Parade.

Epoch Turret is developed by the KBP Design Bureau in Tula, Russia.

AU-220M 57mm automatic cannon

The 57mm gun that’s also used in Atom 8×8 is basically an Anti-Aircraft gun used in S-60 towed AA system. The gun was developed in 1950’s.

Japan ShinMaywa US-2-amphibian aircraft

The ShinMaywa US-2 is an amphibious short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft manufactured by Japan-based ShinMaywa Industries. Designed for air-sea rescue missions, the US-2 is operated by the 31st Fleet Air Wing of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF).

The ShinMaywa US-2 fleet is deployed across the remote islands of Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zones to provide surveillance and emergency medical transportation services. The aircraft can quickly reach remote islands and sites of maritime accidents during search and rescue (SAR) operations.

The US-2 amphibian aircraft was displayed at Defexpo India 2012. The aircraft has been offered to India in response to the Indian Navy’s global request for information (RFI) for nine amphibious SAR aircraft. The US-2 is the first Japanese aircraft to be offered to the Indian defence market.

Fire Fighting

Russian T-15 (Object 149) Armata Heavy IFV

The “Armata” Universal Combat Platform is a Russian advanced next generation heavy military tracked vehicle platform. It’s the basis of the T-14, the T-15 and several other types of engineering, artillery vehicles. The platform is designed to replace the older Russian battle tanks and military vehicles that are currently used by the Russian military.

 “Boomerang-BM” has one characteristic that distinguishes it from other domestic developments of this class. Inside this module there are no spaces for the crew accommodation. The main advantage of this technical solution is the possibility to reduce the dimensions of the module, and also to increase the level of protection of the crew by placing it inside the hull of the combat vehicle.

The “Boomerang-BM” armament is similar to that used on other combat modules developed by the Design Bureau of Instrument Engineering. The module is proposed to be equipped with an automatic cannon of 2A42 caliber of 30 mm, 7.62 mm with a twin PKT machine gun, and also an anti-tank missile system “Cornet”. Probably, this type of weapons was chosen with the aim of unifying promising combat vehicles armed with the “Boomerang-BM” module, with the existing equipment.

The Armata is a generic name given to a family of vehicles currently being developed in Russia sharing a common chassis, aka Universal Combat Platform.

The Armata Universal Combat Platform has been developed  by the successful Russian manufacturer Uralvagonzavod (who developed and produced the T-90 MBT).

BTR-3E1 with 90mm CMI CSE90LP

CMI Defence and Ukroboroprom integrate the Cockerill CSE 90LP turret with the BTR- 3E 8×8 vehicle. The resulting system offers robust organic direct firesupport to current and future BTR-3 users. The Cockerill CSE 90LP is a low-weight two-person turret. Featuring the proven Cockerill 90mm low pressure gun (of which some 2,500 units have been sold) the turret provides a range of highly effective fires from HE to APFSDS-T and Canister. These fires are accurately delivered around the clock using electrically-powered gun drives and a night/day digital fire control system.

The Ukroboronservice BTR-3E is a  16 tonne 8×8 armoured personnel carrier. The vehicle features a rear-mounted 300HP multi-fuel  powerpack. Fabricated in steel armour with a Kevlar spall-liner fitted in the crew compartment, the vehicle offers protection against small arms fire, mines and (optionally) CBRN threats.
